Originally born in the Bronx, I have been a Brooklynite for the better part of my life. 41 of my 53 years. As an Afro-Latino, I fell truly fortunate to be able to interact and bridge two worlds: my Anglo-American side with that of my Dominican heritage. Growing up I thought I’d go into business or be an architect. Coming from a family of blue collar types, along with the still prevailing notion inspired by Booker T Washington that the best means of economic uplift for the average Afro-American, lay in a vocation, I entered and graduated from George Westinghouse Vocational and Technical high School with a major in Electrical Installation. I spent the next 15 odd years as an electrician until I discovered computers in 1991 and then 14 years later officially transitioned to a career as an Information Technology professional. These days I simply refer to myself as a technology professional as that better encompasses what I do.

My professional trajectory is not all there is however. Though eschewing an academic or intellectual tract after leaving High School, years later, I enrolled in Brooklyn College and eventually earned two Liberal Arts degrees (History and Philosophy) thus completing the circle as it were. I am proud to say I have been able successfully combine my early blue collar bent with the academic or intellectual orientation that developed later. Beyond that, I am a semi-serious sports fan, love to travel, listen to all types of music and watch movies (big Trekkie fan here!). Fitness has been a life long passion. My belief is that being sound of mind and body is not just good, it is an obligation. Spending time in Upstate NY from time to time, one of my favorite pastimes is taking long bike rides throughout beautiful North Country. As I said, keep yourself sound of mind and body.

Please take note that social justice issues are near and dear to my heart. As I continually develop my blog posts, visitors to this site will see my take on myriad of issues. My hope and intent is to inform and not offend. This is the world according to Q. Make it yours.
