Recently, I learned that 71 percent of young Americans between 17 and 24 are ineligible to serve in the military. That is, over 24 million of the 34 million young people cannot join the armed forces—even if they wanted to–they’re physically unfit. Likely it is this unfitness for military duty of much of the young American population, rather than fake concern over Iranian lives, that contributed to Trump’s eleventh-hour decision to halt the recent intended attack on Iran. As far back as Vietnam, the American population’s unfitness for war was quite evident. Unlike, for example, the Russians, the American population and its elites have never had to face down an enemy on their own turf as formidable as the German Wehrmacht. They were bled white and still managed to beat back the best the Germans could throw at them. Destroying 80% of the German forces while the West to this day blows its horn about its much lesser role in the defeat of Nazism. Technology and throwing money at the military (much of which simply disappears down a black hole of corruption) cannot alone win wars. Wars against hardened targets require strong fighting forces. Something the US Empire sorely lacks.

Remembering the shock and hysteria on 9/11 it struck me just how insulated and cocooned much of the American populace is. Brainwashed by years of propaganda on the USA’s greatness, inculcated with a consumerist mindset from birth and never being bombed, with its cities under siege for years on end like the Russians experienced during WW2, the American populace’s narcissism and cupidity is nearly bottomless. I doubt the Russian population would react with the same degree of apocalyptic hysteria and shock had they experienced 9/11. Anger and desire for retribution, sure. But not narcissistic self-regard like if they are the only ones to have ever been attacked or bombed and appropriating a whole date “9/11” (forgetting 9/11/1973 in Chile, for example, when Allende was deposed in a US backed coup) by beating the drum ad nausea of the “tragic events of 9/11.” A population such as the US weighted down by its decided lack of experience in total war, bred on entitlement and now suffering the ravages of austerity, drug use epidemics such as the opioid crisis and political impotency is ill equipped to provide usable fodder for US imperial designs. To Make America Great Again will thus require the Anglo-Zionist Empire to Make A Better American.  I guess the rest of the world can be thankful for this.
